Signed from local football during the summer of 1900, George Martin had to wait until the tail-end of the season for his one first-team game at right-back, a 2-1 home defeat against Reading. Whereupon, he returned to Bursledon. He was also played a few games for Hampshire CCC in the 1898 and 1899 seasons.
