A Royal Engineer based for a period in Southampton, William Peck first appeared in the St. Mary’s team at the beginning of the 1892-93 season and played in the first seven games, which included the FA Cup victory over Newbury. At home on the left or in the centre-forward position he left the club shortly after a 5-0 defeat by Swindon in November 1892 and moved with his army unit to Gillingham in Kent. During WW1 he was an engine fitter at Chatham Dockyard.
