Liverpudlian Tom Taylor played much of his football in Wales. In his first spell, with Rhos in 1925-26, he represented the Welsh League and earned himself a transfer to Second Division Manchester City. Having failed to make a single first-team appearance for them, he moved, within the division, to Southampton. As an inside-forward, he was rather overshadowed, in his first season, by his name-sake, Sammy. In a couple of games at the start of the next season – 1928-29 – Tom brought his League tally to four goals in six games, but that that would bring him only two more appearances at this level of football. After which, he wandered from the banks of the Mersey to Wales and back, playing non-league.He later scouted for Liverpool, while working in a St Helens factory although by 1939 he registered his employment as a skipter in a colliery
