Ryan Finnegan, a full-back who came through the academy, had an exceedingly fleeting career in a competitive Saints shirt, coming on for a couple of minutes for Ibraham Diallo in injury time of a FA Cup-tie against Shrewsbury. After a loan period with Crewe he then joined the Shrews for another loan spell but an ankle injury only five games in the September curtailed his progression. Saints recalled him and then allowed him to join Blackpool permanently.
