Lyanco was born in South America, his grandfather having moved to Brazil from Yugoslavia during World War II. His mother was of Portuguese descent. Having his first taste of European football in Italy the rugged central defender reportedly commanded a fee of around £7 million pounds when he joined shortly after the 2021-22 season got underway. He never managed to gain a regular place in the side with Jan Bednarek and Mohammed Salisu preferred in the heart of the defence but when called upon always gave an enthusiastic, rugged performance if lacking in finesse and discipline. The following season he did feature in more than half of the club’s Premier League fixtures but it was a year of turmoil and relegation. Deemed unsuitable for a season in the Championship and with the club looking to lessen the wage bill he went on a long loan to Qatar and then the following summer moved back to Brazil with Saints taking quite a hit on their initial outlay.
