Jay Meghoma was enticed to St Mary’s in 2022 – initially as a scholar – after catching Saints eye in Spurs Acedamy. Given a two-year professional contract a year later he then went on to make four starts, all in Cup competition. He was regarded as a very promising full-back but with a year left on his contract he and the club thought his move to Brentford benefitted both parties. The club pocketed £5m (plus another £5m in potential add-ons). Soon after the 2025-26 season commenced he became reunited with Russell Martin when making a loan move to Glasgow Rangers.
