A trialist from St Mary Cray, in Kent, Harrison Eke had represented the county at junior level. He started well at The Dell by scoring seven times in four games for the Reserves. Then, when Arthur Dominy was injured, he was thrust into the Southern League side at inside-right. He struggled in the company of more experienced players and soon returned to Kent, where he continued to work as a milk-hand. Serving in the First World War with the Royal Fusiliers in France, he was discharged in June 1916 with tuberculosis, of which he died the following year.
