An import from Birmingham League football, Harold Pearson was brought to The Dell to act as cover for centre-forward, Bill Rawlings and inside forward Arthur Dominy. The Echo was enthusiastic at his arrival

“he is nicely built, he is a very useful player to have on the books of the club, and one whose promise is above the average”.

Having started well, scoring twice on his debut, he was quick and determined and many fans felt he wasn’t given enough chances to establish himself properly.

The arrival of Cliff Price pushed him further down the pecking order and he was transfer-listed in May 1924 for £250 and was to be found in the ranks of Coventry City the following season. Scoring again on his debut he failed to shine thereafter and was again released after Coventry suffered relegation from Division II. Returning to his home town he and his brother took over his father’s coal merchant business but by the 1939 registration exercise, carried out because of the outbreak of WW2, he declared himself to be a glycerine maker in Birmingham.
