Arriving from Northamptonshire football, full-back Fred Loasby spent most of 1914-15 in the Saints’ South Eastern League side, until he had a couple of first-team outings at the end of the season. But then came the abandonment of “official” football. This meant that, when not on in military action, Loasby was playing army football – until he returned to Northants after the War, now with Kettering.
