A gas-fitter by trade, Fred Coham arrived at The Dell via Eastleigh Athletic, the local railway works-team. His slight build did him no favors and after just one appearance – in the Western League at The Den – he returned to Eastleigh, but not before he lined up in the 1005-06 season squad photo. He played for Eastleigh for several seasons. By 1939 he was a plumber’s mate in the local Southampton shipyards.
