Having graduated from local football to The Dell, Frank Jordan failed to get a first-team outing in the 1905-06 season. It was nevertheless a disappointment to the club’s management when he emigrated to South Africa in the summer of 1906. His move to the Cape did not work out, however, and when he came home in 1908, he was re-engaged after a trial.

He soon established himself at inside-left, capitalising on his fleetness of foot and his dribbling skills.

In his second season, 1909-10, he was used more, albeit sporadically, as a left-winger. Following which, he played for four more Southern League clubs, including Stoke, who had temporarily found an incongruous haven there, after leaving the Football League. After the First World War, Frank returned to Southampton, where he worked for over 20 years at the Southampton Gas and Coke Company. He was a prominent member of their cricket XI and secretary of the whist team.
