Alfred Fry was a more than able half-back in the club’s first three seasons, in the last of which he played in the Saints’ first two Hampshire Junior Cup-ties. He went on to become a prominent builder in the town.

Alfred’s son-in-law, John White, kept goal for Hampshire in the early 1920s and was on Portsmouth’s books during the 1925-27 seasons. John’s son, Charlie, was the Saints’ first-choice goalkeeper during the war-time season of 1940-41.
