Having never made the first team in two seasons with First Division Derby, Alfred Dunmore would fare only one game better by joining Southampton than in Division II. Although he would top scorer for the Reserves (nine goals in 44 appearances), he had but one chance to deputise on the right-wing for the otherwise ever-present Dick Neal. After being released at the end of that 1932-33 season, he returned to the north-east where he wound down his career and worked as an electrician/wireman in the coal mines.
