Welcomed by the Echo as a trialist of some ability from Wanstead, Henry Richman did not disappoint. After “dodging into position” he scored the only goal with a “lovely shot” against Tottenham in the final Western League game of the season. The Echo correspondent enthused –

“he showed an excellent conception of the duties of an inside forward, his ability is unmistakable and, if the directors should hesitate about signing him, it would be on account of his build.”

For whatever reason, stature or otherwise, Henry did not sign for the Saints, but returned to London football, while continuing to work as a wholesale warehouseman in the tobacco trade.
