Bill Crabb came from local parks football to start the 1899-1900 season at right-back for Southampton’s Reserves. A mid-season injury to Peter Meechan gave him his Southern League chance. Although his performance was reported to have been “plucky”, he made but two more senior appearances. He never reappeared for the following season other than making one appearance for the reserves which won him a Hampshire Senior Cup medal (see above). He died a few months shy of his 30th birthday.
