To say Maxwell Cornet’s brief time at St Mary’s was underwhelming is probably understating things, because not for one second during pitch appearances did he resemble anything like the player that had become admired while in Burnley’s colours. To be fair to him his loan sojourn on the South coast was during a particularly turbulent few months with the club struggling back in the Premier League and the manager Russell Martin criticised for being inflexible with his tactics.
